Why You Should Use Distilled Water in Your Terrarium
Q: Does distilled water have significant advantages over boiled and cooled water?
A: Using distilled water in your terrarium reduces the accumulation of mineral build-up in your environment. If you choose to water your terrarium with tap water or boiled tap water, you may see a crust of mineral deposit form in your soil or on the walls of your terrarium vessel over time. If you know your tap water is particularly hard or soft - I would recommend using distilled water in your terrarium as much as possible.

ReplyDeleteVery short post.
DeleteUsing distilled water to moisten my terrain seems like an expensive option, but I will certainly prefer to drink the water, instead. Alternatively, I can learn how to make distilled water. I found useful info here: http://survival-mastery.com/skills/water-purifying/how-to-make-distilled-water.html
ReplyDeleteIt is not a good idea to drink distilled water, as it will throw off the salt balance and sometimes acidity of your body.
DeleteNot a good idea to drink. Distilled is like rain water which is good at leaching minerals from stones and other sources like teeth.

ReplyDeleteDistilled water is only $.88/gallon at Walmart, and a terrarium shouldn't need that much water anyway.
ReplyDeleteThere are different types of softening systems like those that swap hard and soft ions by the use of sodium beads or resins. Other systems filter the water to separate the calcium and magnesium from your household water supply. fleck water softener
