We found this California native orchid in a creek on the Aliso Loop Trail. Our plant expert was very excited and said she hadn't seen one in years. From far away it looked fairly unremarkable- but up close the bloom does look like a cultivated orchid.

ReplyDeleteI think I may have seen one of these last weekend blooming just a few inches directly above a hot spring at Deep Creek near Hesperia, CA. I'll have to go back and take a photo... just beautiful!
