Sand bee at Gaviota

We came across these sand bees living in holes in the ground on the Gaviota Hike yesterday. I remember seeing sand bees like this in sandboxes when I was a kid in San Diego but I have never seen ones this big.

I caught this one really enjoying himself in a flower. He was rubbing his whole body around in the pollen and flopping all around.
