Abundance of Ladybirds

There have been so many ladybugs all over Santa Barbara right now. I see them on the trails. I see them on campus. They are all over my yard. I must say- it's a cheery site.

  1. Great Photos! but I think you mean ladybugs not birds.

  2. Sometimes we call them ladybirds too- or maybe I just made that up.

  3. how wonderful to have so many ladybirds. I remember as a child they were very common. Then they became rare, although I would see yellow ones occasionally. But now it's been a while. I think their scarcity is due to people using pesticide sprays.I love them. Ladybird, ladybird fly away home, your house is on fire, your children alone. Thanks for the post.

  4. They are definitely called LadyBirds here in the UK. Its their time of year to match the hatchings of greenfly and everything else they thankfully feed on.

  5. I defintely think the ladybirds like to sit in the sun and show off their bright little shells. I always see them hanging out on the very tips of plants.
