The current issue of NatGeo had a great article about green roofs in urban areas and some of the gardens people have devised on the tops of factories and penthouses are really beautiful. The article also has a great how-to regarding layers for proper drainage with a good illustration. I feel bolstered again to approach the landlord about doing a succulent green garden on our side shed roof. You can see the roof from the street and it is a very sturdy little shed. I think it would be a great location.

ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea, the roof top gardens are
ReplyDeleteso cool.
I like the contrast of the green roof surrounded by city lights...I think if your landlord will let you, you should go for it!Why not? What do you want to grow?
ReplyDeleteI would just want to grow something easy and drought-tolerant. Probably sedums and succulents.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that great - wish more buildings did that.
